Established in 2004, we are the specialist treasury advisory team of Aquila Services Group plc, which includes Altair Consultancy and Advisory Services Ltd and Oaks Consultancy Ltd.

About David

David is Chief Executive of ATFS and an Aquila Group Executive Director. Drawing on over 30 years’ experience in the City as a commercial banker and corporate treasury in the oil & gas exploration sector, David is a financing specialist. He has advised on some of the housing sector’s largest and most complex financing propositions. He has devised new financing strategies to take clients to the capital markets and has developed new funding models designed to be sustainable in rapidly changing markets. David has wide experience of non-executive board membership and working with non-executives to facilitate complex and challenging decision making in new financial markets and for business diversification.

Away from work David enjoys motorsport, clay shooting and is an internationally qualified martial arts instructor.

Prior to working in consultancy he held Director of Housing posts in two London boroughs and was the CEO of London Borough of Newham.

About Alistair

Alistair is ATFS Director responsible for housing clients in Scotland. He is a Chartered Banker with over 40 years’ experience in corporate banking, the Scottish Government’s Housing Division and financial consultancy. With an in-depth knowledge of the funding sector for social housing Alistair has helped Scottish RSLs to raise over £350m of funding over the last four years, ranging from large private placements in the capital markets to smaller bi-lateral loans. Alistair is also an experienced non-executive board member both with a housing association and non-charitable subsidiary.

Away from work Alistair enjoys travel, serving as a Committee member and Wellbeing Protection Officer for his local bowling club, and restoring his classic motorbike.

About Tim

Tim is ATFS Director responsible for banking and payments service reviews and related tender support services for education clients. This ranges from operational banking relationships to specific areas such as card acquiring and international payments. Tim spent nearly 30 years in the City at global UK and Japanese banks before embarking on a consultancy career in 2002 and is a specialist in the reduction of card processing costs. He speaks regularly on the subject at conferences, seminars and workshops.

Outside of work Tim plays golf badly, enjoys motor sport, football and rugby and is a keen gardener.

About Richard

Richard is ATFS Director responsible for debt advisory services to the education sector. He spent 10 years working for banks and independent financiers specialising in cash flow finance for SME’s across a range of business sectors.

Since 2013 Richard has worked with Universities and Colleges across the UK supporting senior leadership teams and boards with debt advisory services, ranging from structuring large scale project finance facilities to debt restructuring and refinancing.

Richard has a degree in Economics from the University of East Anglia and is currently studying towards his MBA from Keele University.

Away from work, Richard enjoys golf, running and trying to keep up with his three children.

About Richard

Richard is an Associate Director with ATFS. Richard spent his formative years working as a lending relationship manager in a UK Clearing Bank. He moved into consultancy 30 years ago specialising in funding and interest rate hedging for both the affordable housing and education sectors.  He has advised clients on the capital markets and a range of innovative funding and hedging structures.  Richard has wide experience of working with and training executives and non-executives on the financial markets and interest rate risk management.

Away from work Richard is a volunteer with the local Citizens Advice and continues to play badminton to a mediocre standard.

About Joanna

Joanna is a qualified Chartered Accountant with 17 years’ experience in the housing sector. After qualifying as an accountant at Deloitte, she transferred to the company’s Financial Modelling Group in the Corporate Finance business. She reviewed and built Excel models supporting financing transactions, private equity deals and public-private partnerships. Before entering consultancy, Joanna was the business planning accountant for a large London-based housing association with a significant development programme and supported housing business. Previously she worked as a financial analyst at a medium-sized London housing association where she focused on business planning, capital accounting and development appraisal.

About Mihir

A  BSc Economics graduate of Warwick University, Mihir is responsible for constructing and reviewing Brixx business plans, data analysis and market research. He has been involved in a wide range of projects, from financial systems review and assisting with stress testing workshops to development capacity analysis. He has also provided project management support to a number of projects to ensure clients realise value for money. Becky joined ATFS as an Analyst in April 2018 with a BA in Politics, Economics and Public Policy from Goldsmiths College UoL. Becky also has a certificate in Corporate Finance from the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. Her focus is on preparing funding proposal requests on behalf of clients, analysis of data and financial evaluation modelling required for operational banking and card acquiring tenders and reviews. Becky keeps up to date on regulatory changes and assists with publication of the ATFS Market Review. She is an active member of the employee-led Aquila Green Group.
